Chapter 9 – Never Looking Back – A Job Well Done!
It's important to remember that when your child is ready to use the potty then they will.
How many teenagers or adults that you know, are still using diapers? Hopefully you don't know any, which just goes to show that eventually your child will use the toilet and you can stop buying those expensive diapers, well at least until the next one!
Before I let you go though, here is a helpful summary of all the important points to remember about this whole process.

## 9.1 Summary of Important Points
* There is no right or wrong age to potty train a child.
* Potty training will be much more successful and be less stressful if your child is truly ready.
* Include your child in buying items such as the potty and her underwear. This makes her feel grown up, plus she'll be much more willing to co-operate if she's involved.
* Keep your cool, and be patient, caring, educational and encouraging towards your child when they have accidents – because accidents will happen.
* Night time training can be harder to accomplish than day time training. Even if they are dry during the day it may take a few weeks or months for your child to get this right.
* If bedwetting is a problem and is not improving then there may be other issues, such as health problems, which will need addressing. Visit your doctor – when it concerns your child never worry about whether you are wasting their time – you're better safe than sorry.
* Above all, BE CONSISTENT! Don't go back to using diapers just because she's having accidents. This will confuse your child and it will make the whole process of potty training longer and harder.
