Mommy's Helper Toilet Seat Lid-Lok [Parent's Pick]

Toilet Seat lik-lok

##Why We Chose It:

I bought several varieties of safety latches to protect my daughter from accidents. My precocious two year old girl loves to pry open anything she could put her hands on so I have to secure any thing in our house that she could pry open. When I started potty training her, I tried to find a safety latch specifically designed for toilets to keep my worries at bay.

I stumbled upon Mommy's Helper Toilet Seat Lid-Lok while I was shopping clothes for my girl. I had a difficult time looking for one because most safety latches that I found in malls were designed for cabinets, not for toilet seats. I decided to buy it right then and there because it was the only brand available in the store. When I got home, I immediately used it to secure our toilet seat. It did get the job done. :) My daughter found it hard to pry it open so she gave up playing with the toilet seat.

It is also very sturdy even though it looks a bit flimsy. I cannot even pry the toilet seat open with just one hand, so I'm doubly reassured that my daughter wouldn't figure out how to open it. However, using this toilet lock did take a lot of getting used to. I had to try it a couple a times before I finally found the right way to secure the toilet seat.

##Cons:

My expectations were a bit high. It works perfectly fine but I was not entirely satisfied. Although it fits our toilet seat, my friends complained that theirs were not compatible with their toilet seat. The inner latch did not extend far enough to toilet. In addition, since it's made of plastic, I'm not sure of its longevity. I've been using it for a couple of months now, but I'm not sure if it would last longer than a year.

##Features:

* Simple enough to be operated by any adult

* No other materials such as adhesives, keys, and the like needed

* Cheap and effective for its intended task

If you have a hard time looking for a sturdy toilet lock, Toilet Lik Lok is a good alternative. It would be better though if you use this product specifically for potty seats designed for kids.
