Why We Chose It:

My husband and I love to travel around the world. But due to time constraints and household responsibilities, we settled for out-of-town trips which usually lasted for a week or so. And with the recent addition to our family, my baby daughter, we found it more difficult to spend a weekend out of town. It was hard to bring our daughter whenever we traveled because we had to constantly look after her. Furthermore, my baby cried constantly upon seeing new faces. So we had to put our traveling plans on hold until my daughter gets accustomed to different people around her. When my daughter turned 2 years old, I told my husband that maybe it's the perfect time to travel again because my daughter is a little more independent now.

However, everything was not as smooth as I originally thought. During long trips, my daughter had to go to the potty every hour (at the least). I was not too comfortable with her using portable restrooms so we had no choice but to stop at the nearest restaurants or gasoline stations which had comfortable restrooms. This posed a problem for us because it took us a long time to get to our destination. Everyone was tired and obviously, nobody enjoyed the trip. What's worse, we even exceed our budget. However, I wanted my child to enjoy every trip as much as we did when me and my husband traveled alone before we had a baby. This could be a perfect time to bond as a family so I had to look for ways to make our trips comfortable for everyone.

Potettes are the perfection solution to my traveling dilemma. I specifically used Kalencom potette because of its collapsible features. Sturdiness is not an issue because the four corner legs lock into place when it's properly set up. It is lightweight, durable (able to support up to 50lbs.), and is made of hard plastic. The disposable diapers that fits on this potette even though it looks very small. As they say, looks can be deceiving. ;)

It also comes with a bag so you can store the portable potty inside after use. I can keep it inside the trunk or even inside a diaper bag. That's how small and efficient it is. :) There is also an absorbent pad to securely holds all waste materials. What I like about this product is that it doesn't need water for rinsing -a very important consideration since we used it for traveling. There are also readily available liners for easy replenishing of stocks.a

Cons:

Some disposable diapers I used don't fit the portable potty. There are some diapers specifically customed for Kalencom potette. In addition, since this one supports up to 50lbs. only, you may have a hard time using it if your kid is bigger than the average weight.

Features:

  • Disposable diapers or liners hold up to 5 ounces of fluid

  • Legs lock firmly into place upon setup

  • Highly portable and lightweight

  • Durable and sturdy up to 50lbs. weight

  • Drawstring carrying bag included for more comfortable portability

This product is highly functional and pretty affordable, too. No more worries for me and my husband whenever the family travels. I definitely give this product two thumbs-up.
